So many days come and go with special moments that are not recorded with my boys. This morning, I wanted to take a brief moment to capture one of the wonderful somethings that occurred.
From the very beginning of our baby boy's existence, our oldest has been captivated by "his baby", as he calls S.
I thought that the honeymoon would be short lived as T continues to mature, make new friends, discover Legos, begin kindergarten, etc. It seems as though every day that passes only serves to solidify his fierce love for his baby brother.
Never mind the 5 1/2 years that separate them.
I have to smile when T "shows off" all that S can do when the neighbor kids come to play, and the drive to his school for carpool is filled with trying to get our baby to laugh and smile for his peers.
These moments make me smile and bring back such fond memories of me with my baby sister. Although she was only 3 1/2 year younger, I would carry her everywhere and attempt to take care of her (as only a 3 1/2 year old could!).
This morning T was sitting next to the highchair where S was diving into his breakfast laid out on the tray for him to devour. I ran upstairs to grab T's school clothes and in the minute I was gone, T had gotten up on the counter to reach the paper towels and I found him gently wiping S off and cleaning the tray since T said "he was all done". His deep eagerness to care for, love and protect brings me abundant joy. It's the small things.
What's even better is that the love goes both ways. When T comes near, smiles and giggles immediately follow. He knows he is SO loved by his big brother!
I praise the Lord for this beautiful bond of brotherhood!
They are truly two peas in a pod.
