2013 -- It's been a very full year, sprinkled with many changes from start to finish -- especially this fall!
We have watched our 3 little boys grow up in so many ways this year, (including our last potty training and good-bye to a crib in our house). The boys are happiest when outside on adventures -- the more mud, the better the memories! All 3 continue to bring us amazing joy.
To the boys' great delight, with our new tent trailer, we logged in about 20 nights of camping. We are so thankful for the time this summer making great memories with extended family!
T, 8 1/2, still adores anything "Narnia" and often finds himself there in his daydreams (often including his brothers in these adventures). He has such a giving spirit. :) One of the highlights this year was his walk-a-thon at school this fall. T surprised everyone (and himself) when he ran 6 miles effortlessly (and wanted to keep running after the whistle blew!).
At 6 1/2, P continues to live and breathe for time spent with all the creatures found in our backyard, (frogs seem to be his all-time fav). He even brought a dying honeybee back to life with his loving touch! This boy truly has a heart of pure gold. In August, P went under the skilled hands of his surgeon at Children's Hospital. The surgeon repaired his right thumb, having almost no mobility, as well as fixed the problem with the tendon so it won't get "stuck". Now, he's finally able to effortlessly do Legos and pick up all his beloved creatures! One of his highlights this year was discovering crabs at the Oregon Coast.
For our S, age 3, it's all about his puppy and Herbie (Disney's Love Bug). He has an internal honing device and somehow can spot any VW Bug seemingly miles away! His favorite mode of transportation is running (probably an expert runner to keep up w/ older brothers!). He's spunky and keeps us all laughing at his silliness. His big "baby blues" can melt your heart but there's also a very tender heart inside the adorable facade. One of his highlights was spending his birthday morning at the VW dealer and actually getting to drive a "new Herbie" home for the day!
This fall was a bit of a blur and consisted of 5 days a week of soccer between T and P coinciding with C taking a new job (with a 4-hour roundtrip commute).
A week on the new job, he came down with what seemed like a bad case of the stomach flu. It turned out to be appendicitis -- leading to immediate surgery to remove his appendix. I'm SO thankful to report that he has recovered and is "good as new!".
Among the highlights for him this year was the breathtaking 23 mi trail run with one of his best friends in August. When they reached 11 miles into the wilderness they found a man carrying a cello. He sat down and asked if he could play for them for them! Truly a surreal experience to say the least!
To add to the load this fall, we also painstakingly readied our house for possible sale (we're still praying for wisdom and direction on this life-change).
Through all the ups and downs this year, we feel incredibly blessed by God 's faithfulness -- bringing us laughter, joy, love, grace and peace. We praise Him for it all.

In May, I was thankful to complete my 2nd half marathon. Unfortunately, all the training for the 2 half-marathons in 5 months lead to a stress-fracture. What was once running time was traded in for doctor's appointments and PT. My dream of a full marathon may remain just that. I am working on coming to peace without that accomplishment under my belt. Hard but good. Right now, I'm able to do small runs and count my blessings with that.
