"Look at ALL those wishes!" remarked our amazed P when taking in the view of a very large smattering of dandilions. Let's just say that we have left our back field to "grow naturally" this summer. When grown-ups see only a large meadow of weeds, children see wishes! This was too adorable to not chronicle. :)
Along a similar line, T came running into our farmhouse recently completely out of breath and simply could not get his news out fast enough. "MOMMY! You won't believe it!!" I literally could not have guessed for a million guesses what this most fantastic news was from our newly-turned 12 year old! "The chicks have their chicken voices now!!!" To this I could not contain a giggle and smile. Yep! Guess our life has become pretty simple here on the homestead when our adolescent chicks' changing voices from "cheeps to bawks" make the top headline!
And finally, another one of our homesteading adventures. After a very full day of our family working together, we very gratefully managed to obtain and split some fallen trees on our neighbor's property. It was one of those rewarding lessons of delayed gratification only taught through experience. Free wood + hard work = a full winter's supply of warmth through fires in our new wood burning stove!
Hooray for 3 Quarts of Wood!!
