Another Summertime Get-Away in the Rockies

What a JOY to once again return to the Rockies for another sweet and memory-filled family reunion (and of course once again reunite all 11 cousins!)!  This year we were blessed to be able to hike up to Native American ruins (dating back from 1,000 years ago!), learn how to throw an atalatal (a type of Native American spear), go fishing, tubing down a river, swim in natural hot springs of all temperatures and sizes, bike about 70 miles, explore/tour an old mining town and hotel there as well as simply hang out as an extended family.  Laughter, story telling and memory-making filled each day as well as our hearts.  A HUGE thank you to my family, especially my amazing step-mom and dad, for making this precious time happen (and to my dear in-laws for holding down our fort and spunky puppy back at home!) -- it was a beautiful gift, yet again, and as always, we are ever so thankful.

We could have spent all day throwing of the atalatal.  Something tells me that this may make many of the kids' Christmas lists!  (See below)!

This AMAZING hotel is found nestled in an old gold town in the Rockies.  It remains perfectly preserved with 95% of original contents dating back to the gold rush!  The fascinating backstory of the man who owned and ran this famous hotel is just as intriguing (and simply beckons to be made into a movie!)!  Truly an step back in time.  To say the least it was lovely, lovely!!

Sweet, Sweet Memories Made Once Again…We're Already Dreaming About Next Summer's Adventures!  :)
