The 4th

We had a wonderful time with my in-laws and extended family of the 4th. It was so beautiful to be able to play and enjoy kayaking on the lake with the boys.

Like clock work, as the sun began to cast long shadows and eventually go down for the night, fireworks began to explode from all the surrounding lake houses as though they were synchronized. With the echos off the lake, not only were the fireworks fun to watch but also thrilling to hear as the sound carried and tumbled through the warm summer air.

The boys loved all the sights and sounds until it was time for the actual "real" show to begin. At that point, our littlest was delirious with exhaustion and our oldest only wanted to stay inside the lake house due to the loud booming generated from the display.

All in all, it was a fun time that they will not soon forget.

Now, we're gearing up for a long road trip in a few days. With a 4 year old and 2 year old, this has my husband's favorite word: "adventure" written ALL over it!! :)

I'm now off to pack and pull things together...

We just returned from our LONG road trip and the boys did great. I put a tote full of toys and books between them, brought our dvd player and lots of fun movies, lots of snacks, lots of songs and games. There were a few hard moments, but overall they did great. Where are you going?

(and your 4th looks fabulous!)
