When it comes to creativity and being crafty, I am a wanna-be.
I've always wondered why I have a deep hunger to do creative things but don't have the ability to actually make it turn out.
Oh, I have tried. But my creations come out looking like, "oh, at least you tried". Let's just call it "loving-hands-at-home", instead of the intended masterpiece.
Blessing or curse, I've been surrounded by SO many amazingly creative people among my family and friends (yes, not naming names, I'm probably talking about you!).
Somedays these dear people serve as tremendous inspiration. Other days their talents and creativity only serves to discourage me. It becomes this unattainable goal.
I LOVE to pour over pictures in magazines to see what creative people can come up with...then gently tuck these ideas away into a "someday" file.
Until a few weeks ago...
Three weeks ago a dear friend invited me on a special website called: Pinterest. A website that is a virtual storage spot to "pin" up all the beautiful ideas other people have come up with. Once again, I can pour over these great ideas and now have a spot to file them away all together.
The greatest thing, I am able to finally find things that are actually achievable for me! I'm telling you, it's like a whole new world has opened up!
While my mom was visiting last week, she and I were able to pull 2 ideas off and begin the process of bringing these things, only seen in pictures until now, to life in our house!
Here's a rose ball that caught my eye:

When I heard that all I would need is streamers, a glue gun and a styrofoam ball, I was excited! After all, we just happened to have a beautiful, red, unopened roll of streamers in the pantry, (from T's b-day last June!)!
Here's all I did:
Cut strips of 24 inches long
Fold each strip down about 1/3 from the top
Roll each strip
:) A rose!
We glued the roses onto a 6 inch styrofoam ball (it was HUGE when finished! Next time I plan to use a ball half the size)
I found a stand at Michaels for $7 for the mantle (I printed off a 40% off coupon online to make it even less).
~ I'd like to get some satin ribbon and a decorative pin to poke into the ball and then be able to hang the rose for display. ~
Next project, it was my sweetheart's b-day last week and I saw a cute idea, also on Pinterest, and wanted to include the boys in the project.
My previous post shows what the pics looks like in color, I printed these off on our printer at home in black and white but plan to change it out with the color pictures instead. (I got the frame at Michaels and printed off a "30%-off-frames" coupon so it turned out to be less than $5.)
I'm SO excited to now be able to find things we can make (many of the materials are with what we already have!)!
Perhaps I can make roses bloom after all! :)
