Looking A Lot Like Christmas

There's nothing so peaceful as the first snow fall at our house for the season. Last night we shared this occasion with some good friends. As we watched the snow gently fall to the ground and transform the dark evening into a moon-lit winter wonderland, we could not help but enjoy this beautiful evening -- all was calm and all was white.

Around mid-night, when they were ready to head home, we noticed the temp drop from 32 to 27 just as the sky seemed to open and let loose several inches of snow all at once. This picture captures our dear friend (less than a week away from delivering their sweet baby girl) and my ever-so-silly husband showing support to her with his "Kicking Bass" t-shirt. Why he's only donning a t-shirt on in the snow (and 27 degrees) is beyond me however.

This morning we awoke to this out our windows:

And, 2 boys with bad coughs...knowing that we could not drop them off at the church nursery to share these unpleasant germs with their friends, we decided to have a change of pace. We loaded them in the car (still in pj's), and headed off to pick up some coffee beans at a shop down the street.

While out of the house, and surrounded in the gorgeous sunshine reflecting off the newly fallen snow, my husband declared that we needed a family adventure on this crystal clear winter morning. True to his nature, he just started driving...towards a road that he knew would lead to mountains (with more snow).

Several miles into this adventure, (and up a mountain side), we ran into deep snow thus drawing this mountain excursion to a close. This adventure was a perfect way to spend our Sunday morning in God's awesome creation! If we could not be worshiping Him at church, I can not think of a more perfect place to reflect upon His beauty and majesty.

This provided a refreshing break for us before we now jump madly into getting everything together for yet another adventure ...only the setting for the next chapter will be among the Rocky Mountains instead! For now, I must sign off...

May the God of heaven and earth shine down upon you and fill you with His peace. Merry Christmas!

The computer is finally back! I had to come and say hello!

It looks like Narnia there... something we never see here.

It's warmish here, and muggy and dark. Lots of drizzle. Courtney is very sick, and I'm huddled up here, nursing her amidst the Christmas lights and movies on tv. :) I guess being sick at Christmas time has a few advantages, huh? ;)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
