This weekend has served as a huge boost of encouragement and love for me originating from many different sources.
Yesterday morning my husband worked really hard to get the baby's room in order. He hung a shelf in the closet, moved several heavy things out of the closet, set up the crib (bumper and all!) and stripped off all remnants of the old wallpaper border on one of the walls that P had "had fun" ripping off over a year ago.
I then had the honor of being treated to lunch by some dear teacher friends at a beautiful water-front restaurant. It's always refreshing to be around these special gals and I felt so loved that they both took the time on a busy Saturday and drove a great distance just to be with me.
I then had a chance to go shopping for some odds and ends while my husband and boys were on a long bike ride for the afternoon. Among the items were things for the baby including diaper cream, pacifiers and baby detergent. Although it does not seem like exciting items, these were among the very first new things bought just for our little peanut! That made it really fun to start that process!
Next, my in-laws took the boys for the night so my sweetheart and I could go to a birthday party for a couple in our Bible study. It was refreshing to hang out with good friends and not have to worry about getting the boys back for bedtime.
After coming home, I was able to work away in the baby's room and begin pulling out newborn outfits out of storage tubs! What a treat!! Nesting -- at last!!
This morning was wonderful to sleep in a bit since the boys were gone, come down and take time to eat breakfast, have a quiet time then take time getting JUST MYSELF ready for church!
When I came downstairs I was greeted with a huge hug from P telling me that he had really missed me...it melted my heart! (This is not at all his way of saying that he was sad at Grandma and Grandpa's house, I know it was quite the opposite of that!)
We also had a chance today to pay a quick visit to see a friend in the hospital who just had a baby today and go to a very fun birthday party with some good friends.
What a great weekend! :)
