Update on our Fuzzy Haired Prince

We took Baby S to the pediatrician on Monday for check-up/head assessment.

The good news is that his skull mis-shappening does not appear to be getting worse!  The skull, however, will remain lopsided when you view from top down and from the back if a helmet is not used.  Thankfully, from the front, his face appears normal.  If you know to look, one ear has shifted and sticks out more, but most people would not pick up on this.

We have a referral for a specialist at Children's Hospital where we will find out where he falls in the spectrum of severity and if a helmet is necessary.  The pediatrician felt like he would most likely not need a helmet.  Especially considering if he does not appear to be an extreme case and also weighing all the hassle (and $1,000 not covered by insurance).

The helmet, if needed, will need to be worn 23 out of every 24 hours a day for up to 6 months.  That could mean all summer through the end of next October.

We are more than willing to do this if it is recommended but want to enter into this with prayer and good council from the specialist.

We will post more answers when we have them.  Thank you for continued prayers for Sweet S!

Hey! Did you know we had Will assesed for a helmet? His head is a wee bit mis-shaped, but nothing you would notice if you weren't looking for it (his ears are a few cm off as well). It's a hard decision! Feel free to call if you want to chat ;).

Thank you, Laura! I did not realize that you actually had him assessed. What did the specialist say?

Julie, that site is amazing!! What an amazing thing to have a helmet that is not ugly. Something that's actually cute to look at! What a gift to parents! Thank you for passing this along!
