Sea Creatures&Sailing on a Sunny Day

Since last President's Day Weekend at the ocean, we wanted to make a visit to the ocean again, just as we did exactly a year ago with my in-laws. Just dreaming about it made the days easier as we pushed through some damp and dreary winter days. Only to reach this weekend and see that the forecast was less than accommodating for living out such dreams.

Does anyone out there really understand the difference between mostly cloudy and partly sunny? That's precisely what the forecast was for Saturday through today. We knew that the ocean would be too cold and windy with an outlook like that.

My husband still wanted an adventure and concocted a plan to help us feel a little closer to sea life since we could not make it all the way to the ocean. So, we made a trip to the aquarium -- he figured that's got to count for something!! :) And, it really did in my book. Thankfully, my in-laws were also up for an adventure today too and they made the day even more wonderful!

The kids LOVED the "touch and feel" tide pool and spent a long time gently, (surprisingly), stroking the anenemies and star fish.

The giant octopus was also quite thrilling to them as well!

We also went on a "sailing adventure" today, (yes, it's also commonly known as a ferry boat). The gorgeous weather that we miraculously were given was a bonus!

Here in the northwest we've learned that we just don't ask questions when the weatherman is wrong about the abundance of sunshine and crystal blue sky!

Although the ocean would have been purely delightful, today was a great change of pace. Sea creatures, sailing and sunshine make for a perfect combination!
