9th Annual Fall Leaves Trip

Ever-so gradually the long, warm evenings gently surrender to cooler, shorter days.  Yet, there's a reward for trading in darkness for light!  Our gracious God provides a magnificent gift of brilliance of another kind.  Leaves creatively arranged, just so, around almost every corner and bend in the road -- in full, breathtaking brilliance that causes us to pause and praise Him.

Several years ago, when we were living in Georgia, we came for a fall visit to the Northwest with T, (4 months old at the time).

What started as a one-time autumn adventure through the mountains with my in-laws, our baby, (and spunky Jack Russell), somehow flowed into the next year and the year after that.  Now, just shy of a decade later, we made the trek with our 3 boys and my dear in-laws (minus our now aging Jack Russell)...

Although many things have changed in our family since the first trip 9 years ago, the pure delight and awe found as we drink in God's handiwork in these glorious colors flowing up and down the mountain sides remains as special as ever.  In fact, I believe it has become even more meaningful than ever, as all 3 boys are now echoing our joy and excitement when they discover a grove of brilliant trees tucked around each corner of our drive.
