Life Lesson Learned Today:
When nature calls, it can sometimes be very alarming!
This morning, my husband and I awoke peacefully as we heard the tranquil sound of birds cheerfully chirping. For a moment we both enjoyed that pleasant sound...until we put two and two together.
To provide background, every night, all night, we have become accustomed to the nature sound of crashing waves over the baby monitor in our baby's room, (chosen from one of the many nature sounds on the white noise machine). In the morning, nature usually calls in a more abrupt way as the waves are accompanied, then "drowned out" by baby calls (energetic talking and babbling).
This morning was strangely different. These familiar waves were not coming through on the monitor. Pretty birds were tweeting instead. Lovely as it was, the lack of waves was also a little jarring.
I then ran to our baby's room to seek answers to our questions. Guess who greeted me right at the door?! As though he KNEW I would be coming to join in the fun as he gleefully partied to the "upbeat birdie noises".
As I surveyed the room, I found the curtains were haphazardly pulled open as only a not-so-tall, young toddler, could do. Toys and books had been thrown EVERYWHERE! Baby Boy was grinning from ear to ear as he was seemingly filled to the brim with pride for creating this fantastic environment ALL BY HIMSELF!
Wow! This little boy is a force to be reckoned with! The crib is on the very bottom rung and there were no toys in there to climb on to leap over, (as was the case with the incident when he was 15 months old). He somehow did it all by himself!
We will never know exactly how long our little guy enjoyed this newfound freedom, one can only guess.
One thing is for sure though, we are now going to have to implement Plan B...looks like he will now be "crib camping". Time will tell if this Houdini can be contained with a crib tent or once again amaze us with his strength and cunning plans.
This morning, when nature called, I'll be quiet honest, it was pretty alarming. But, it also made us chuckle.
What next?!

My boys never tried to climb out of the crib. But I have a deep hunch that Lydie will. Let us know how the tent works!
