Several ladies, including my sweet neighbor, talked about the importance of having a Bible story or devotional with their kids each morning to start out the day. That concept really made an impact on me. Although it has been something I have wanted to do now for quite some time, this week I decided to make this goal a reality with our two little ones.
Mornings are anything but calm and serene...in fact, I could not chose a more crazy time of day save right before dinner. I was convinced though that if these other moms could do it with their kids, so could I!
I was not sure what book I should use to start off. After browsing through the kids' books I found one I used to use when I taught 1st Graders. The pictures are bright and colorful and the message is short and sweet. But what I LOVED about it was the Bible verse at the top of each story. I also like the short prayers on the bottom of each page.
To my delight, our 3 year old listens intently.
Our 21 month old did not want to sit through the short devotional at first, (not uncommon for him -- after all, he is a toddler who LOVES to toddle!).
But then was captivated by the pictures and even sits quietly if given breakfast at the same time.
I am really excited to be able to use this book as a springboard for discussions of God, His creation and the Bible. I am reminded this week of how invigorating it is to begin something new!

WOW my JA!!! This is so awesome! It is SO neet to see you with your kids and growing every day! What a blessing you are to them and to all of us!
Angei
wonderful! and very brave of you to do this with your boys in the morning! :) we have many good suggestions for bibles for little ones as well as devotionals, if you ever need more ideas (and as they grow, too).
Good for you! You'll be surprised how much you will reap from just a few minutes a day! Lydia Joy already has her favorites- but mainly requests the story of Jonah over and over again.
Wow, 200 already? Congrats!
I started a devotional thing a little while ago with the kids in the morning - which lasted, oh, not long. :)
I was just thinking that I need to start back up. I just forget! Good reminder.
Cute pics!
