Camping and a Pig Party

Well, last week was indeed a difficult time for me but my wonderful husband never fails to cheer me up...those of you who know him know that he goes ALL out when he's got an idea!

He came home Friday night and informed me that we were going to go camping. Ugg! I had barely survived the week with him traveling and now to not only pack up for the family AND somehow survive sleeping in a tent with 2 little ones...it was really almost enough to make me just laugh!

But, I just smiled and said very, very slowly...O...K...

He got on line and made some calls checking into availability at camp grounds. A while later he was pulling out the good old family tent.

This is what he came up with!

I was THRILLED!! Happy husband, 3 year old and I was really so thankful that we did not have to go anywhere and pack anything! Win, win, win!

He even called his parents and invited them over (and had them bring the fire pit) for smores!

Our 3 year old lasted in the tent until 10 pm (awake the whole time) when we made an executive decision to put him in his own bed for the night (baby never even had the chance to try falling asleep in the tent and was unaware of any fun times he was missing out on).

The bright stars and the fresh air outside were a perfect way to end the difficult week. I am gearing up for round 2 this week but do feel encouraged and refreshed from the weekend and great effort put forth by my amazing husband to lift me up.

To end the weekend, we just came back from spending the evening at a birthday party for some good friends of ours. They hired performing pigs!! Oh YES! They really were quite something!

Performing Pigs?! How funny... can't say I would've ever thought to do that but I'm sure the kids loved it and that it was entertaining! Your camping sounds wonderful!! :) After the week you had last week, I too was going, "oh no!" when I saw your entry title. :) So glad it didn't add extra work for you... save that for a week after he's been home! :) Take a deep breath and you can make it through this one as well!! Thinking about you and I'll see you on Thursday!!

Looks like fun in the tent. I am sure Taylor had a wonderful time, especially with the smores.

Our trip was great. Calvin will sleep anywhere if we keep the routine. The baby had his little swing so that worked out. They all slept well and only had a few wakings in the night the first night, all of which were over in under 5 minutes.

What a great idea! You have such a sweet, thoughtful husband. You are a lucky girl!

I love camping, but last summer with a one year old was rough. I am looking forward to this year with a 7, 5 and 2 year old - much better!
