This past week was spent strolling down memory lane in California...it was refreshing and wonderful. It was really special for me to have my sweet husband and our boys spend time with my extended family.
Special trips like this are so few and far between...we soaked up every moment to the fullest! What fun memories! Some of the highlights included: quality time -- laughing, telling stories and just being with my grandparents, spending time in their Japanese tea house and garden, swimming in their pool where I grew up learning how to swim when I was little, now watching Mr. T learn how to swim ALL by himself too (with the help of floaties)!
We also had a fun visit with my oldest friend from grade school, (I LOVE that she's as fun and spunky as she was 23 years ago when I met her). We also played with her little girl, who, by the way could not be any cuter if she tried! :)
The boys loved that we took several trips to ride special miniature trains and climbed up old restored engines and passenger cars.
We were blessed to be able to have 2 date nights to the Griffith Park Observatory to gaze at the moon and Jupiter through the high-powered telescope! Another treat was eating at my favorite restaurant of all time and the Chinese dinner where we got to see my wonderful aunt, uncle and cousin.
We also made great memories at our trip to the ocean as we splashed in the waves and ran along the soft sandy beach.
My sweet mom even came the last few days we were there!
Times like these remind me just how blessed we are to be a part of an amazingly loving and caring family! For this, I am eternally grateful to the Lord for allowing such a special time with my family! Also, a HUGE thanks to my grandparents for treating us as royalty -- we can't find the words to thank you and tell you just how much we LOVE you!
