Christmas Vacation 2010

Vacations sometimes look a bit different at our house...

This past week was dedicated to re-organizing, rearranging and shedding some things that we no longer used.  It's fun to see my husband's strength as an achiever being used to propel us into each day.

Sprinkled throughout the week we rearranged (one of my passions!) several rooms to make them more usable.  We wanted to find a solution to replacing our worn out mattress in the master bedroom and like so many things in life, one thing lead to another...

Here were the 2 main areas of our focus:

Before: Our Guest Room/Computer Space with Large Bed that Filled the Room

After: Guest Room/Exercise Room/Computer Work Space/Library/Play Room (we moved the futon from the boys' room into the guest room)

Before: Master Bedroom/Exercise/Computer Workspace

After:

After: Master Bedroom, now using Guest Room Furniture, (we decided to donate the former California King bed, bench, nightstand,2 dressers and computer cabinet)
(My dream would be to someday have a large standing full-length mirror in the left corner by window.)

Although not a huge room, the master seems SO spacious now!

Thankfully, our comforter still fits on the former guest room queen even though it was originally for our California King.

After spending 4 very full days moving, rearranging, and purging we were able to fill a large U-Haul moving truck with 800 pounds at the dump and 2,500 pounds at the Salvation Army!  (You know it's a lot of stuff when the regional director comes to meet you personally to thank you!)   :)

Finally on Friday evening we were ready to play!  To the mountains we went with some of our dearest friends...a sunset snowshoe hike!  It was gorgeous as the snow glistened with the setting sun.  The boys had an absolute blast snowshoeing too.

What a fun and action packed week!  Great way to kick off the new year too!

And now, we wish a Happy New Year from Us to You!

Congratulations! How wonderful to accomplish so much in a short time. Isn't that a comfortable mattress? I bet you feel lighter with all that STUFF gone. I'm very impressed. Blessings on your new rooms!

I'm speechless. And I can't even get my Christmas tree down. Send some of your energies my way!!!???

Also, I'd love to know more about the snowshoeing...where do you go, where to rent them, etc?
