Autumn has begun to make her presence known to us. I must admit that I'm not wanting to fully welcome her yet. She brings such beauty and vibrancy in her stunning colors, for that I am unbelievably thankful. It's the other side of her that I'm not sure I am ready for -- darker days, earlier nights and abundance of Northwest rain that she promises to bring.
Sunshine seems so far away on dreary autumn days. Splendid summer warmth has slipped away and has surrendered to the new season. It will return next year and be as sweet as ever...
Thankfully, there are many things to love about this time of year. I need to remember these. The Lord graciously created the stunning colors in the turning leaves to keep us smiling. To stop us so that we may once again stand in awe of His beauty, even when the days are becoming darker and shorter (and wetter).
(The pictures of the fall leaves were taken a few years ago on a stunning fall day.)
It helped for me to decorate our house a little to "embrace autumn". We DO have hope though (even on the darkest of days).
Here's to God's amazing majesty in the beautiful, golden leaves and ripe, delicious apples ready to be harvested! There is still so much beauty...even when I do not feel the sun is not shining down upon me.
