Just Might Get It All

As we pulled into the airport on Maui to go home yesterday, a perfect song played on the radio, "Going Home" by Chris Daughtry. We had the convertible top down on our Mustang and the words, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it all..." rang out into the warm island afternoon air.

What a perfect caption for our trip get-away trip to Hawaii...we felt SO blessed to be in paradise for 5 nights away from home. And then, knowing that we were heading home to our boys was also a tremendous blessing in itself. A great place to be.

There are no words that can begin to describe all that our trip was to us but I will say that we were able to enjoy each day to the fullest...just swimming, talking, laughing, and simply spending time side by side on the beach with no words needed.

I enjoyed just being goofy with my sweetheart. That's something that just fills my soul and leaves me unbelievably joyful.

We got a chance to do some people watching, (one of my favorite pastimes). One of the funniest moments on the trip occurred when a man and woman walked down the beach with their inflatables, (the mattress looking kind), and got into the ocean. The woman gracefully slipped into the ocean and within seconds was laying back on her inflatable, just floating along peacefully in the water. Her husband, on the other hand, was not able to accomplish this same smooth transition.

I should mention that this individual was a particularly well-fed man and it did not help matters that the inflatable he was "battling it out with" was the slimmest floatation I've ever seen. I can only think that he was so one-tracked, focused on getting on that he did not realize that he was located where the waves break and the waters churns and flips people, tossing them about with no regard...this poor man was no exception -- over and over again!

His wife turned to look, (probably wondering why her husband was not gently bobbing up and down right next to her, taking in the views in the ocean), and began laughing really hard at her husbands futile attempts to begin the floating adventure with his wife.

All I have to say is that this guy was one determined individual, and after several minutes of this funny routine he FINALLY made it on! The guys on the beach next to us were also so caught up in this man's attempts that they erupted in cheering and applause to celebrate his success. Later on, when the couple came out of the ocean, the man's wife came to thank the guys for cheering him on...she was glad to have had us all share in on her husband's funny moment. :)

It looks like you had an amazing time! I'm so glad you were able to get away... makes me want to jump on a plane right now! It's hard to believe it was a year ago that we were playing in Chris' sand holes. :) I'll never get over that, whether they were or weren't the same holes... ;) I'm SO glad you two were able to go enjoy it- welcome home!
