Gotta love this time of year!
It's often difficult to remember just why we're running from store to store, cleaning, organizing, preparing for parties, getting ready for a road trip, etc.
The long list of things to do is right there, at the forefront of my mind, as my eyes pop open each new day. It's also still there the last thing often on my mind as I try to fall asleep at the end of the day (and many times in between).
I found myself thinking today, "if I can just make it through the holidays". That's a sad reality.
As I forced myself to sit down for a moment and have a quiet time with God, I was reminded that this beautiful season is and should be about our Savior's birth. Oh yeah, it's all coming back to me now that I paused to think about it! Now I remember!
Here's a clip from my devotional, Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young:
"Do not be weighed down by the clutter in your life: lots of chores to do sometimes...If you focus too much on petty tasks, trying to get them all out of the way, you will discover that they are endless. They can eat up as much time as you devote to them...Remember that your ultimate goal is living close to Me...I can communicate with you most readily when your mind is uncluttered and tuned toward Me. Seek My Face continually throughout this day. Let My Presence bring order to your thoughts, infusing Peace into your entire being."
So, the verse that I am going to focus on today (and the rest of this season) is:
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." ~ Proverbs 16:3
