Playdough Roll Play

Our 4 year old always amazes me as he processes difficult things in a healthy way.  He has used his drawings and dreams to communicate situations that take more processing.  He even projects deeper feelings onto his favorite cat stuffed animal.

We were playing with playdough when he told me he wanted to make a person.  This was a new request.  For a while now it's been all about snakes -- the fatter and the longer the better.  He asked how to start the person and I helped him with the head.

I assumed that he would want to make himself so I then added a little neck and gave him a small amount for the tummy.

He then looked at it and took the tummy off.  His little fingers then grabbed more.  T then explained to me that this is Mommy.  Only THIS mommy still has a baby in her tummy that will pop out when it's summertime so he can hold it.

Wow.

Ouch.

He then put a dab more on the top of the tummy for the baby.

I am simply stunned that he is processing this at his level.  I am also thankful that he is putting his feelings into words (and playdough figures) for me to understand what he's working through right now.

I do have to say that I prefer the chubby snakes instead though.

You are a strong woman, much stronger then I ever gave you credit for when we where little. Though I am sure you do not feel strong right now, you are holding on to God and that takes a lot of strength threw these kinds of heart break. I have learned that if we have faith, it is in our weakest hours that Christ can show His awesome strength, threw us, for us. Right now you are a burning light in a very dark place. I love you and you are all in my prayers!
