Precious and Peaceful Sleep

We're entering into a new phase with our baby. Now that he's 14 months, I am fearing that he may not need a morning and afternoon nap every day. It seems as though we made it with 2 naps with our first baby until at least 16 months, but I do know that every baby is different.

What made me begin to question the 2 naps a day was when our sweet baby would sleep well in the morning and be REALLY silly during afternoon nap -- NO interest in sleeping what so ever for 3 days in a row! I could finally get him to fall asleep but it sometimes took upwards of 2 hours in that whole frustrating process.

So, today was a trial day. Since we had church in the morning it kept him awake and happy all morning. When we got home we quickly fed him then put him down around 1 pm where he proceeded to fall asleep instantly...When 4:30 rolled around and he was still sleeping away I decided to wake him so that he would continue his awesome sleep pattern at night from 8 pm-8 am. I am thinking of doing every other morning nap for a little while to ease him (and me) into the new schedule.

It's very rare that I actually get to see him sleeping since I put him down while he's awake and get him up after he's woken up. These special moments this afternoon were so precious to me. He was sleeping so soundly that he did not wake up when I took about 10 pictures of him -- with the flash!

My favorite part about these pictures is that his 2 pacifiers are lined up right next to his mouth as though he carefully placed them "just so" -- JUST IN CASE he may need one at any moment! :) That really tickled me!

Every other day morning nap sounds like a plan. Don't be surprised if he goes back to a morning nap for a while though. C likes to make me think that he is going to give up his 1 nap altogether every once in a while. I just keep making him go to his room during nap time and lay in the bed even if he doesn't sleep. So far every time I have done this, within a week, he is back to taking a nap easily. Even when he does give up the nap I think I am going to do "room time" for 2 hours in the afternoon, just so I can have some time to get things done.

Ok, those pics of him sleeping remind me so much of Andrew. And I actually can't wait for Caden to give up his morning nap, b/c it frees up my mornings to get out and do more (play dates, errands, etc.). Although you prob like as many breaks as possible from the constant whirlwind of activity which is our wee Peppin! =). Can't WAIT to see you all next month!!!
