A Different Take on a Vacation

We like to do things a little differently than most people! This is especially true this week for our "vacation"...
So far this week we've totally removed everything out of the master closet then only put back in things that we've used in the past year...everything else is in the give away pile. Boxes covered a majority of the floor that have been there since we moved in a year and a half ago!Next, we have spent several days tackling the beastly project of removing ALL boxes from our loft closet that used to be in our basement from our last house and garage in the house before that. Each and every item in each and every box was re-evaluated. They are full to the brim with things from our childhood, high school and college! Every note, picture, etc. We did save things of great value but did purge a massive amount. Check out the newly organized closet! Before you could not open the door all the way because of the floor to ceiling/wall to wall boxes! We're going to put in shelves all the way down on one wall to store games, books, art supplies, etc. and free up the closet space in the boys' rooms.
We then posted our TV cabinet on-line to sell to clear room for our next project! This one is the most exciting one for me thus far...a bonus playroom for our boys! I am dreaming of a place where they can curl up and read their favorite book, play board games or paint at their new art center! We will be moving the futon into Mr. T's room since he's got some wall space. Our goal this week has been to save as much money as we could by not going out to eat, driving anywhere or doing anything that costs money (we've been so busy organizing that we haven't even had time to think about going out!)...so far we have not gone anywhere (except to the dentist and hair salon) or spent any money out of pocket all week (my haircut was a VERY sweet gift from my dad!)!
We had a major car expense come up unexpectedly ($1,200 to be exact) in our 10 year old car and we either had to fix it and have our car work again or get a new car. We chose the former. However, I think we're doing well this week to counter that expense. That's always nice!

My awesome mother-in-law came straight from work last night so that we could push through the last of the boxes in the loft closet! She picked up the kids, took them to their house where my in-laws fed them, bathed them and dropped them back off ready for bed! What a beautiful gift!!
Well, I'm off to load all of the items in the TV cabinet into boxes so that we can move it into the garage incase anyone wants to come and buy it...

WAY TO GO!!! I love it, you guys are a lot like me when it comes to organization - however, I give you much deserved credit for doing it on your week of vacation! The place looks fabulous - can't wait to see pics. once you finish the play room!

Wow! None of our closets are that empty! It looks wonderful. I don't think it's strange at all to take a few "vacation" days to do a house project. But, that's just me! Did I tell you already how great that haircut looks? I know I did...but I'll tell you again. You look gorgeous!

Wow!

As a personal organize-a-holic, I totally and completely appreciate your hard work!

Also, I wish I had a Mrs. Madsen mother-in-law who would take my kids for the day/afternoon/dinner.
That would be awesome.
