Refreshingly Genuine

Last night we had the special privilege of hanging out with many of our long time friends at a reunion. These dear friends were all a part of our amazing young married couples group that was established 9 years ago (we happened to join the group before we were actually married!). An awesome pastor and his wife lead us, prayed for us and with us and challenged us to seek God first in our marriage.

We all met faithfully for the first 3 years of our marriage then as the group started "being fruitful and multiplying" we decided that we had arrived in at a new season in our lives and it was time to move on. Some moved on literally and were not able to make it due to the great distances they live now, but many of us are still in the general area. One special couple came across the country to join us last night.

It was LOUD and FUN with the addition of all our kids! We counted 17 kids that have come along since we fist started...MANY more boys than girls. Apparently fertility is abundant among us. :)

What really struck me was the authenticity of everyone. It was, indeed, a refreshingly genuine gathering. People were sharing the great things that God was doing in their lives...some of these great things are coming straight out deep hardship that God faithfully brought them through as they stuck close by Jesus' side.

I love that we were able to be honest and share so openly since we had that strong foundation built so many years ago. It was beautiful.

What a BLESSING. Those friends are gold.

Two of my very best friends in the world are from that "newly married" or "young married" phase of life. We had our babies together, which is very bonding. I am still friends with most of that group, but those two are special. We none of us live in the same town anymore, but we keep in regular contact and we pick up right where we left off.

You're right - it's beautiful. One of the things that attracts me to people is genuineness and "real-ness." I don't have time for fake anymore!! :)

Hold on to those friends!!

OH, and by the way -
I did call Lisa and the baby is doing well. The surgery was successful and although the first two days were rough and painful, he is better now, slowly growing, and hopefully will be released in a couple of weeks! Can you believe that? Wow - science is amazing.
Thanks for your prayers and for checking in!

What a blessing to have people in your life like that! We are so fortunate to be in a "marriage group" with 7 couples. We meet every other Wednesday and take the summers off. We have been meeting for 5 years!
ps- check out my blog! I posted 3 new postings today.
